Supernatural novels for young teenagers have never been more popular. We are delighted to have three successful authors visiting us for the Woodford Festival.

Rook Hastings - Author of Nearly Departed and Immortal Remains
Michelle Harrison - Award winning author of Thirteen Treasures and Thirteen Curses
Do you want to know if Lucy ever manages to escape the loo she is haunting and finds her murderer? Would you be brave enough to live in Woodsville with all the weird supernatural activities?? Or would you like to try to solve the chilling mystery of the disappearing girl and have a faerie encounter???
All three authors will be doing readings from their latest books and will be sharing their tips on writing as well as answering any audience questions. The event will be held at WoodfordCountyHigh School. Books will be available on the night and Tamsyn, Rook and Michelle will be delighted to sign copies. The evening is aimed at age 11 and upwards, tickets are £2 and can be purchased in advance from The Village Bookshop. Refreshments will be provided.
Saturday 9th October 11am to 1pm, Stanley Jones will be signing copies of his book.
Lavishly
illustrated with works by acclaimed artists as diverse as Henry Moore, Paula
Rego, David Hockney, Ken Kiff, Elisabeth Frink, Barbara Hepworth, Ceri Richards
and Man Ray, this book tells the story of the establishment of the Curwen
Studio and the development of Stanley Jones' career as an artist printmaker.
The Curwen Studio is a unique organisation in fine art printing for
artists/photographers and has an outstanding international reputation. The
Curwen printmaking studio for artists was established in 1958 under the
management of Stanley Jones, and has been the birthplace of a number of
exciting new developments in printmaking over the years since. Many important
lithographs have been produced there, by artists including Henry Moore, Barbara
Hepworth, Graham Sutherland, Elisabeth Frink, Alan Davie, Josef Herman and John
Piper. The Tate Gallery in London has recognised the important
contribution made by the studio and has established its own ‘Curwen Archive’. .
A world-famous stone and plate lithographer, Stanley Jones' whole life has been
devoted to printmaking. He lectured in lithography at the Slade School of Fine
Art in London, and has worked at the Ecole de Beaux Arts and Atelier
Patris in Paris, where he worked with artists including Giacometti, Le
Moal, Sugaii, Severini and Soulages. He helped set up The Curwen Studio (one of
the first ‘open-access’ studios available for artists with help from an
on-site, technically-expert printmaker), which since 1958 has enabled artists
to explore the medium of lithography. Until recently Stanley Jones has been
President of the Printmakers' Council, and he continues to pursue his own
career as an artist. His lithographs and paintings are held in both public and
private collections all around the world. The book will cost £35.
