During Independent Booksellers Week in July National Book Tokens sponsored a nationwide “Booklovers” competition.
We encouraged our customers to participate saying "someone has to win!". There was a series of book related questions to answer (different for children and adults) and a tie break question about your favourite book and what you like about your favourite bookshop. There were ten prizes of £100 worth of tokens awarded on a National basis. We received the amazing news that 3 of the 10 competition winners are customers of The Village Bookshop! Kitty, Charlotte and Peter received their book token prizes at the shop on Saturday 27th Sept.
Kitty’s favourite book was the Diamond of Drury Lane by Julia Golding she loved the fact that an amazing mystery unravelled and she couldn’t put the book down. Charlotte felt J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was a spectacular adventure and Peter was so inspired by Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman’s book of the Long Way Down that he decided to ride his motorcycle from Lands End to John O’Groats.
All three winners voted The Village Bookshop as their favourite bookshop mentioning the great service, the atmosphere, the range of books and how quickly books that have been ordered arrive. Below in the Photograph album you can see the three winners holding their favourite books. Click on the corner of the album to turn the page.
